How the Shiftly Rating System Works:

At Shiftly, we believe transparency and trust are the foundation of a great student–restaurant partnership. That's why we've built a two-way rating system designed to reward reliability, encourage accountability, and help both students and businesses grow.

for students

After each shift, restaurants rate students based on a few key factors:

  • Punctuality: Did they arrive on time and ready to work?
  • Work Ethic: Did they complete tasks efficiently and with care?
  • Professionalism: Were they respectful, positive, and communicative?

Your rating acts like a living resume on Shiftly. While shifts are claimed on a first-come, first-served basis, restaurants can choose to reject student applications. A higher rating makes you less likely to be rejected, giving you a better shot at getting the shifts you want. Over time, consistently strong ratings build trust and make it easier to secure work!

for businesses

Students rate restaurants based on:

  • Clarity of Expectations: Were tasks and responsibilities clearly communicated?
  • Work Environment: Was the shift safe, respectful, and organized?
  • Overall Experience: Did the student feel supported and treated fairly?

Restaurants with consistently strong ratings are more likely to attract reliable students, since great experiences lead to positive word-of-mouth and repeat interest!

Fairness and Accuracy:

We take rating integrity seriously. Ratings are:

  • Submitted after each shift and must be based on actual experience.
  • Visible to both parties (once submitted), encouraging honest and respectful feedback.
  • Reviewed regularly to flag suspicious or inappropriate content.

Reporting Unfair Ratings:

We know not every experience goes smoothly—and sometimes a rating might feel unfair or inaccurate. That's why both students and businesses can flag a rating for review.

When you report a rating:

  • Our team will review it for bias, inappropriate content, or clear violations of our policies
  • If needed, we'll follow up for clarification or remove the rating

We want Shiftly to be fair, transparent, and supportive for everyone.
